Updater not working, or Installer not working properly:
If for any reason, the updater repeatedly stalls out after the login screen, or after the character select screen, you may have to re-install the client.
This entails UNINSTALLING it through the control panel from windows. Then remove any Sparkplay folders from the machine, ( from the "Program Files" folder or "My documents" folder).
Then come back to the website, click on "play now", and get the installer from that green page. Do Not proceed past that green page, once the installer is downloaded, then close out the browser.
After re-installing the client, then come back to the website and click on "play now".
Then click on "proceed" in the lower right of the page.
Then after logging in, you'll notice it may take a while to re-download all the files again. Just let it do it's thing, and then when done, you should end up in the game world.
In some instances, it has been seen that turning off all firewalls, spyware scanners, anti-virus programs, etc will finally allow it to fully download and faster in some cases.
BrandedPupils reminded us of a little loved utility in windows called the "Program Compatibility Wizard."
It's in XP, Vista, and Win7 and can help programs that are having issues. EE was made for Windows XP originally.
So for the Vista and Win7 users, this may be a handy thing to walk through to get you going. ( I'll post the instructions for Win7 when I get them)
In Vista: Start> Control Panel> Programs.
Under Programs & Features, you should see an option for "Use an older program with this version of Windows"
Click on it and you should be taken to a Program Compatibility Wizard. Walk through that and it should be able to get you going.

It simply means it freaked out over something and doesn't know what to do next.
